Shannon Nahara MA, LPC, MFA
Meet Shannon
I earned my master’s degree in transpersonal counseling psychology with an emphasis in art therapy from Naropa University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. I also have a master’s degree in fine art.
My previous experience as a therapist includes developing and delivering both in person and online counseling and art therapy programs for adults living with depression and other mental health concerns. I have also worked in nursing home and Hospice settings.

I feel that our health as individuals and a society are intrinsically linked with the well-being of the planet. My values include a mindset that everything is conscious and interconnected in the web of life.
Some of my additional training includes Family Constellations, a family systems approach that works to resolve intergenerational trauma and disclose the deeper forces behind blocks that keep us from the healthful changes that we desire.
I’ve studied Emotional Freedom Technique from the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology. I took part in life coach training from The Institute for Life Coach Training whose programs have a focus on educating counselors and psychologists.
For many years I’ve learned natural healing and integrative health practices which informs my therapeutic approach.
Jungian and Eco-psychology have been long-time interests.
Spirituality has played a big role for me and I’ve studied mindfulness related practices for over twenty-five years. I have a special interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals through art therapy.

“Out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.”
